The S.E.Asia Maritime Action Project was created in order to provide and promote education and training services for individuals, clergy and seafarers of the international community, by the Orthodox Metropolitanate of Singapore & South Asia and the Institute of International Nautical Studies through the St.Thomas Polytechnic (Singapore).
The Orthodox Metropolitanate of Singapore and South Asia (OMSGSA) was founded by the Ecumenical Patriarchate in 2008. The countries under the spiritual jurisdiction of the Orthodox Metropolitanate include Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, Timor, Maldives islands, Bangladesh, Nepal, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. The Mission of the Orthodox Church in South Asia, is to preach the fullness of the gospel of the Kingdom of God to the peoples of South East Asia and to invite them to become members of the Orthodox Church.
The Institute of International Nautical Studies is a Non Profit Organization registered in Cyprus that offers life-long specialization and postgraduate programmes in partnership with Greek Universities that meet the established need of the Shipping Industry for integrated and optimum training services. Its programs incorporate the latest trends in Maritime Education and are designed and implemented by professionals employed at the highest tiers of vessel and shipping office administration.
Saint Thomas Polytechnic is registered under the Law of Singapore as a Class 41 (Education) TM by the Orthodox Metropolitanate of Singapore & South Asia as the sole proprietor (No. 40201824654U). Its fundamental principle of operation is to fund the charitable work of the OMSGSA. All the proceeds from the postgraduate degrees and other educational activities go to cover the operating costs of the institutions of the Orthodox Metropolitanate and community projects in Indonesia, India and Pakistan.
